Meditation – Celebrating the “M-Word”

Can you feel it? There are powerful energies lining up to take our Great Shift in Consciousness to the next level—for our planet and for each of us personally. For me, the most essential question is, how do we navigate the energies to access new levels of love and commitment to the evolutionary journey we’ve all come here to celebrate? One answer is the “M-word” that so many shy away from – Meditation!

For many years, I’ve found meditation to be the most wonder-filled way to move through challenging times of healing and growth. It brings a rhythm to my day and helps me to feel balanced and focused on my own journey of creation. No matter what is happening “out there”, this is the one tool in my “spiritual toolkit” that focuses me inward to create a nurturing and insightful space of love.

How’s your meditation practice?

I can’t imagine starting or ending my day without meditating, yet it wasn’t always that way. When I first committed to this path of healing, it seemed that everyone in my spiritual community was talking about meditation and how important it was. “Yeah, yeah,” I thought, but how to do it? Every time would try to meditate, my thoughts wandered all over the place. I never really got a flow or into that deep, loving space.

Setting the intention to meditate

Then, I received the guidance to meditate for one hour straight for the first ten days of the new millennium in order to help to set the energies for the next 1,000 years. (No pressure there, yeah?) It sounded like quite a challenge since I was only meditating sporadically and not all that long, yet I also knew that just by setting my intention to meditate, I was already meditating. So, I thought I’d take the challenge.

I created a space in my home and time in my day for meditation—a place and time that was especially dedicated to me and my meditation practice. In the beginning, it was just a few minutes a day in a corner of the living room where I would sit in the early morning; however, I still had trouble focusing and was always checking the clock to see how much time had passed. What to do? Music! I got a meditation music CD and headphones. With the music, I was meditating longer and longer each day, and I found that my focused intention was creating an energy that was honored by myself and others in my family.  Soon I was actually meditating for an hour each day. Now I love this time so much, and it has become the gift I give myself at the beginning and end of each day.

At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.
~ Lao Tzu

How to maintain a balance in all aspects of our lives in a rapidly shifting world? The answer to anything and everything lies within us. If you are already meditating regularly, you know what I’m saying. If meditation is something you’ve always wanted to try, here are some simple suggestions.

  • Create a sacred space in your home—perhaps just a corner of a room with a simple altar and a candle.

  • Set a goal to meditate for five minutes and increase the time as you are able.

  • Make it a ceremony: Light a candle or put on your Goddess scarf and play some music if it helps you.

  • Say a prayer of gratitude and state your intention for meditating, such as relaxing, receiving guidance, or sending your love to someone or into Mother Earth.

  • Breathe: Take some deep prana breaths to relax into the meditation, open your heart and just enjoy the feeling of peace.

  • Create a sacred space in your heart and mind: See yourself in your own conference room, meeting with your guidance or at a peaceful beach, a lake or in the forest. Go there in your mind.

  • After meditation, try doing an “automatic writing”--some call it journaling. Ask for a message and just write whatever comes without judging it. Just let it flow!

Keep Trying!

If you are creating a new meditation practice, the most important thing is to keep at it. Set your intention to have a daily meditation practice--even for just a few minutes a day--and do what it takes to make it happen. You will find a way. And don’t get down on yourself if you miss a day or two. Be willing to stick with it and accept that you are finding your own way with meditation—a way that works for you!

Sending you Lemurian blessings from my heart to yours,
